Getting Started

My therapy approach is based on the belief that everyone can learn and change and that we are all responsible for own behaviour, thoughts and feelings. I will work with you to find out what you want from counselling and therapy and this will form our goals and working contract.

I use a variety of techniques depending on your wants and needs because you are unique.

One of the ways I work is through our relationship with each other. It is through our relationships with others and indeed with ourselves that we create our experiences of life. So I will use our relationship as a source of information and give us both the chance to reflect on what is happening between us.

  • Where we meet

    I am based in the Marple area.

    There is a parking slot on the driveway, it is recommended that you reverse into the drive for easier exit. And Marple Station is just ten minutes away.

    In addition, I also work in Wilmslow on Saturday Morning.

  • What can you expect?

    My sessions for individuals are 50 minutes and for couples 1 hour. The first session gives us an opportunity to get to know each other a little better and discuss the business arrangements. This allows us both to get enough information to make a decision if we wish to work together.
  • How often?

    My clients usually come once a week but that can be agreed at our first appointment.
  • How long will it last

    This will be up to you and depend on what brings you to counselling/psychotherapy. For some people, who bring very specific issues, resolution can take a few weeks or months.  But for many people, who want to delve deeper into their issues, the process can take a lot longer – sometimes many years.
